When using a new product for the first time its always advised to do a patch test before use.
How to do a patch test
A patch test is a method used to determine whether a particular skincare or cosmetic product is suitable for your skin and to identify potential allergic reactions.
- Select a small area on your skin for the patch test. The inside of your wrist or the area behind your ear are common choices.
- Ensure that the chosen area is clean and free from any existing products, lotions, or creams.
- Put a small amount of the new product on the chosen area.
- It’s usually recommended to wait 24 hours, although some reactions may occur within minutes.
- During the testing period, avoid washing the tested area to ensure that the product is in contact with your skin for the entire duration of the test.
- Watch for any signs of irritation, redness, itching, swelling, or rash during the waiting period. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue use of the product immediately.
If the patch test is successful and you do not experience any adverse reactions, you can then continue use of the product.
