Interested in the steps involved in creating each acorn candle?
(Or maybe wondering why they cost the price they do >.<)
- First I made the concrete from scratch using sand, cement and plaster to get that smooth finish.
- Then I proceeded to cast the container in a silicone mould and left to cure for 24 hours.
- Once cured, they were demoulded and left to cure for a further 2 days.
- Then it was on to sanding away any imperfections.
- Each container was dipped in sealer, allowed to dry then again for a second coat to ensure the container is safe for wax.
- Then on to decorating.
- A final layer of gloss coat got sprayed on top to protect everything.
- Finally I could then begin the candle making process.
A lot of work, but their adorable appearance I think makes up for it. Plus each candle once gone can be cleaned and used as a acorn container to store trinkets inside.
Warning
- Concrete container make break if dropped
- Always use appropriate means of lighting the wick
- Never leave a flame unattended.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Place on a heat resistant surface
- Container may become hot
- Do not ingest this product
- Great deal goes into making each container safe for purpose. But if there are ever signs of cracking blow out the candle immediately and reach out via email so I can best advise you on what to do next.
